江戸時代、京と江戸を結ぶ東海道は、人・物・文化が行き交う大動脈でした。歌川広重が描いた「東海道五拾三次」は、宿場風景に旅情を重ね、見る者の想像をかきたてる風景画の代表的作品として、今も多くの人を魅了し続けています。本展では、広重の「東海道五拾三次」（保永堂版）を中心に、浮世絵に描かれた多様な東海道シリーズを紹介します。美人や役者と組み合わせてみたり、将軍上洛に因んだり。風景だけにとどまらない “描かれた東海道”の広がりにも注目しながら作品をお楽しみください。
