ABOUT
「院展」の名で親しまれる日本美術院は、1898年（明治31）に創立された美術団体です。横山大観らが中心となり、新しい時代にふさわしい日本画を切り開くための研究に打ち込みました。一時活動を休止しますが、1914年（大正3）に再興。その後も今日にいたるまで、院展は優れた画家を輩出し、画壇を代表する団体のひとつとして重要な役割を果たしています。「春の院展」は、院展の小品展として1945年（昭和20）より始まった展覧会です。限られた画面サイズだからこそ、より斬新な表現に挑戦する画家たちの力作が並び、大型作品が展示される再興院展とは異なる魅力があります。足立美術館では、2010年（平成22）より毎年巡回している再興院展に加え、2021年（令和3）からは春の院展も開催しています。当館では、日本美術院同人の新作や各賞の受賞作など、総数140点を展示いたします。ぜひ、この機会に現代日本画の魅力をご堪能ください。
