Julian Alden Weir (American, 1852–1919)

Julian Alden Weir was the subject of a portrait painted by John Singer Sargent in 1890.¹

Weir helped raise money for those who lost their jobs in the 1893 depression through painting exhibitions.¹

Weir was one of the founding members of "The Ten", a loosely allied group of American artists dissatisfied with professional art organizations.¹
