Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (Hovhannes Aivazian)

JulIvan Aivazovsky was born on July 29, 1817, in Feodosia, Crimea, which was part of the Russian Empire.¹

In 1845, he built a house and studio in his hometown of Feodosia, where he conducted his artistic activities.¹

Aivazovsky married Julia Graves in 1848, but they divorced in 1877.¹

Aivazovsky returned to the besieged fortress of Sevastopol to paint battle scenes during the Crimean War, which erupted in 1853.¹

Aivazovsky remarried in 1882 to Anna Burnazian, an Armenian widow.¹

MayIvan Aivazovsky died on May 2, 1900, at the age of 82 in Feodosia.¹
