OctFrans Floris (I) was born around 1519 and died on October 1, 1570.¹

After studying in Italy, Frans Floris opened a workshop in his native Antwerp around 1545.¹

Many of Frans Floris's works for churches were destroyed in the Beeldenstorm (iconoclasm) of 1566.¹

After the iconoclasm of 1566, Frans Floris lost his passion for art and suffered from debt and drinking in his later years.¹

Frans Floris was shocked by the destruction of his works during the iconoclasm of 1566, which led to a loss of creative drive.¹
